This is a set of high-quality, cut lead crystal sherry glasses from the ‘Julia’ suite produced by Webb Corbett Crystal.
The bucket-shaped bowl has a thickened base. It is cut with a row of five large crosses, the upper limbs of which cross over the upper limbs of adjacent crosses. Within the diamond-shaped panel thus formed, there is a lattice comprised of two pairs of parallel lines. Above the centre of each large cross is a vertical mitre cut.
The bowl sits on a short stem, the latter having a bulbous upper portion, reminiscent of an inverted baluster. The foot is plain, and four of the six glasses are marked in the centre with the Webb Corbett Crystal crown logo.
The glasses come in their original Webb Corbett Crystal cardboard box. This bears the original sticker, which reads ‘SHERRY 6906’. 6906 is the pattern number for the ‘Julia’ suite.
Each glass has a height of approximately 11.0cm, with a diameter across the rim of about 6.1cm and across the foot of about 5.2cm. There are some minor discrepancies in the dimensions due to the handmade nature of the glasses.
Each glass has a liquid capacity (to the brim) of 90ml.
They have an unwrapped weight (including the box) of 980g.
They are in excellent condition, with no chips or cracks. There is some minor wear to the edges of the box, which is commensurate with age.
