This is an attractive vintage silver decanter or wine label by S. J. Rose & Son and dating to the 1970s.
The central rectangular panel is engraved with the word ‘SHERRY’ and surrounded by a repoussé foliage and shell border. There is a short chain to suspend it from the neck of a decanter.
The reverse is marked to one side with the manufacturer’s mark ‘S.J.R’, which was used by S. J. Rose & Son. This is followed by the anchor mark for Birmingham Assay Office, the sterling silver lion mark, and the date letter ‘B’ for 1976.
The label (not including the chain) has a maximum width of approximately 6.1cm and a height of about 4.0cm.
It has an unwrapped weight of 13.8g.
It is in very good condition, with minor surface wear, which is commensurate with use and cleaning.
