This is a high-quality lead crystal lidded storage pot produced by Richardson Glass and dating to the second quarter of the 20th century.
The pot has a galleried rim that narrows to form a short neck. This then widens out to merge with the cylindrical body. This is cut with four large cross-cuts. Between adjacent crosses are three horizontal wedge cuts stacked on one another.
The thickened base is plain and marked with a Union Flag and the words ‘RICHARDSON BRITISH’.
The lid is of plain, discoid form, with a central tapering knop.
In addition, the pot retains the remains of the original yellow and gold sticker, which reads ‘RICHARDSON BRITISH STOURBRIDGE’.
This piece was originally part of an extensive drinks cabinet set and would have originally been used for storing cherries, olives, or other cocktail ingredients.
The pot has a maximum height (including the lid) of approximately 9.8cm and a height to the rim of about 8.0cm. It has a diameter across the rim of about 7.4cm and across the base of 6.3cm.
It has an unwrapped weight of 260g.
It is in excellent condition, with no chips or cracks.
