Pair of Wedgwood Crystal ‘Portia’ Design Flute Champagne Glasses FJT27

This is a pair of high-quality lead crystal champagne flutes from the ‘Portia’ suite designed by Frank Thrower for Wedgwood Crystal.

The bowl is of cylindrical form with an everted rim. It tapers in and merges imperceptibly with the long, solid stem. There is a discoid collar at the junction of the stem and the plain, flat foot. The latter is unmarked.

The ‘Portia’ suite has the pattern number FJT27 and was available in the ‘Clear’ or ‘Midnight’ colourways. This pair is ‘Clear’. 

Each glass has a height of approximately 17.5cm, with a diameter across the rim of about 5.4cm and across the foot of about 5.9cm.

Each glass has a liquid capacity (to the brim) of 115ml.

They have an unwrapped weight of 240g.

They are in excellent condition, with no chips or cracks, although there is an enclosed bubble in the foot of one glass, which is a manufacturing artefact.
