This is a pair of high-quality cut lead crystal pan champagne glasses attributed to Stuart Crystal and dating to the 1920s.
The bowl is cut with a series of eleven large crosses, the limbs of which come into close approximation. Each cross surmounts a small olive or lens cut. Within the diamond-shaped panel formed between adjacent crosses is a further smaller cross, intersected by a vertical cross. The stem is hexagonally faceted and meets the foot at a small discoid collar. The foot is unmarked.
Although these glasses are unmarked, I was fortunate enough to stumble upon a poster on display in the Stuart Crystal Gallery in the Red House Glass Cone in Stourbridge, which shows these exact glasses. I have included my own picture of this above.
Each glass has a height of approximately 11.5cm, with a diameter across the rim of about 8.6cm and across the foot of about 6.4cm. There may be minor discrepancies in the dimensions due to the handmade nature of the glasses.
Each glass has a liquid capacity (to the brim) of 170g.
They have an unwrapped weight of 280g.
They are in excellent condition, with no chips or cracks.
