This is a charming pair of wooden butter pats or paddles, probably dating to the end of the 19th century.
Each paddle has a flat back and a vertically ribbed front. The handle extends out from the main body.
Each butter pat has a maximum length (including the handle) of 24.0cm and a width across the paddle of about 8.3cm.
They have an unwrapped weight of 120g.
They are in good used condition, with some scrapes and losses to the edges of the ribbed section. They have been well used, and this has given them a nice patina.
I have cleaned the wood with plain soap and water, air-dried them, and then sealed them with plain, food-safe mineral oil.
