This is a pair of high-quality cut lead crystal champagne flutes from the ‘Seawitch’ range produced by Bridge Crystal.
The capacious tulip-shaped bowl is decorated below the rim with a band of laurel cutting, below which is a fine circumferential mitre cut. The remainder of the bowl is cut with an elongated lattice formed from three rows of interlocking crosses.
The base of the bowl is thickened and sits on a broad, globular knop. Below this the stem tapers in as it approaches the foot. The latter is star-cut and unmarked.
This pattern was also produced by the successor company, Kinver Crystal, under the pattern name ‘Dunsley’. It appears that the majority of pieces are interchangeable between the two suites.
Each glass has a height of approximately 19.0cm, with a diameter across the rim of about 5.2cm and across the foot of about 6.7cm.
Each glass has a liquid capacity (to the brim) of 275ml.
They have an unwrapped weight of 590g.
They are in excellent condition, with no chips or cracks, although there is the odd striation within the glass, which is a manufacturing artefact.
