This is an attractive pair of short moulded and cut lead crystal candlesticks, probably of Czechoslovakian origin, dating to the mid-20th century.
The wide galleried rim is faceted around the edge. Below this, the cylindrical portion is cut with eight vertical facets. There is a flat, discoid knop above a round, wide collar, which connects the candlestick to the base. This is approximately circular but has been ‘squared off’.
The base has been cut on the underside with four fans, two of which are flanked by a panel of relief diamonds. The larger fans are connected across the base with two pairs of curved wedge cuts. The centre has a star cut design. They are unmarked.
Each candlestick has a height of approximately 7.6cm, with a diameter across the rim of about 5.1cm and a width across the base of approximately 10.6cm. The aperture for the candle is 2.5cm across.
They have an unwrapped weight of 770g.
They are in excellent condition, with no chips or cracks.
