This is a classic example of an iconic design captioned ‘X Certificate’ and designed in 1969 by Frank Thrower for Dartington Glass.
The vase is hexagonal in shape and made from ‘clear’ glass. Each facet has a hammered effect and is moulded with four domed protrusions encircled by a ring of smaller dots. This design was inspired by the human nipple.
The base is plain and unmarked.
It has a height of approximately 15.2cm and a width across the rim of about 6.5cm.
It has an unwrapped weight of 270g.
It is in good condition for its age, with no chips or cracks, although there are a couple of scratches near the rim and some faint water marking behind the uppermost row of nipples. This is visible on close inspection but is reflected in the price.
