This is an attractive example of a retro open sugar bowl from the ‘Samoa’ range produced by Alfred Meakin of Staffordshire.
The sugar bowl is simple in form, with a moulded circumferential ridge where it begins to curve towards the base. The exterior is glazed in black, and the interior is glazed in white.
The base is glazed in black and unmarked.
It has a height of approximately 6.7cm, with a diameter across the rim of about 9.5cm and across the base of about 6.1cm.
It has an unwrapped weight of 190g.
It is in excellent condition, with no chips or cracks, although there are a few very minor glaze scratches that are commensurate with use.
