This is a highly attractive lead crystal flower vase of Bohemian origin and dates to the first half of the 20th century.
The vase is trumpet-shaped, with a wide flared rim and complex cutting. The design essentially consists of three pattern repeats that mirror each other at their points of contact. The upper part of the pattern consists of two arched wedge cuts, between which are a series of interlocking crosses forming a lattice. Above the junction of the top arches are two horizontal wedge cuts. Between the edges of the adjacent lattices is a criss-cross bisected by a vertical cut. Immediately below this is an inverted fan with five ‘arms’.
The cutting on the lower part of the trumpet consists of a continuous lattice of three rows of interlocking crosses. The foot is star-cut and unmarked.
The piece is made from lead crystal which has a slight yellow tint. This is characteristic of Bohemian glass.
It has a height of approximately 25.7cm, with a diameter across the rim of about 16.7cm and across the foot of about 12.8cm.
It has an unwrapped weight of 1810g.
It is in excellent condition, with no chips or cracks, although there are a few wear and tear scratches commensurate with use.
