This is a high-quality lead crystal flower vase in the ‘Jones’ design by Frank Thrower for Dartington Glass.
The vase has a wide cylindrical neck and an everted rim. The neck flares out to form a short angular shoulder and a wide cylindrical body. The base is flat and unmarked. The whole is moulded with a twisted ribbed effect known as ‘ripple’.
The vase bears the remains of the Dartington gold sticker, which indicates ‘first’ quality.
This vase has the pattern number FT233/2 and was introduced around 1978-1979.
It has a height of approximately 15.4cm, with a diameter across the rim of about 8.7cm and across the base of about 10.0cm.
It has an unwrapped weight of 430g.
It is in excellent condition, with no chips or cracks, although there are a few wear and tear scratches to the body and base commensurate with use.
