This is a pair of high-quality cut lead crystal hock wine glasses from the ‘Georgian’ suite produced by Webb Corbett for Royal Doulton Crystal.
The capacious rounded bowl is cut with a band of nine large crosses. Each cross is surmounted by a three-pointed fan cut, and the diamond-shaped panels formed between adjacent crosses contain a smaller cross-cut. Below this is a ring of nine concave oval cuts.
The bowl sits on an elongated cylindrical stem with a central ball knop. The foot is plain and marked in the centre with a crown logo and the words ‘ROYAL DOULTON ENGLAND’.
Each glass bears the original silver and light blue label, which reads ‘ROYAL DOULTON CRYSTAL BY WEBB CORBETT’. There is a white paper label on each foot which reads ‘THE ONLY GENUINE ENGLISH “GEORGIAN”.
In addition, they come with the original wrapping and in the original box.
Each glass has a height of approximately 16.7cm, with a diameter across the rim of about 6.5cm and across the foot of about 6.4cm.
Each glass has a liquid capacity (to the brim) of 200ml.
They have an unwrapped weight of 430g.
They are in excellent condition, with no chips or cracks, as they have probably never been used. There is a minor difference in the knops, which can be seen in the pictures, but this is due to their handmade nature.
