This is a pair of high-quality cut lead crystal wine goblets from the ‘Beauly’ suite by Edinburgh Crystal.
The capacious bowl tapers in and merges imperceptibly with the solid, elongated stem. The bowl is cut with four horizontal swags that cross over at the ends. Above this point is a three-limbed fan, and below it is an elongated fan of five vertical wedge cuts. The outer limbs of each fan meet the outer limbs of adjacent fans, creating a triangular panel below the horizontal swags. This panel is filled with a lattice of crosses, and above the centre (just on the swag) is a further three-limbed fan cut.
The foot of each glass is plain and marked on the edge with the words ‘EDINBURGH CRYSTAL’. In addition, they bear the remains of the original purple and silver label, that reads ‘QUALITY CRYSTAL FROM SCOTLAND’.
The glasses come in their original purple Edinburgh Crystal box, although this is worn around the edges.
Each glass has a height of approximately 19.0cm, with a diameter across the rim of about 7.5cm and across the foot of about the same.
Each glass has a liquid capacity (to the brim) of 250ml.
They have an unwrapped weight of 550g.
They are in excellent condition, with no chips or cracks.
