This is a pair of high-quality lead crystal dessert bowls by the Harbridge Crystal Glass Company Ltd dating to between the 1930s and 1950s.
The bowl is of double ogee form. The rim is decorated with a series of ‘V’ shaped wedge cuts, which give it a ‘sawtooth’ appearance. The bowl is cut with a band of fifteen large crosses, each of which is intersected by a vertical cross. Below this is a band of ten horizontal leaf-shaped wedge cuts.
The bowl sits on a short, waisted stem and a thickened, star-cut foot. The latter has an upturned rim which is marked with the words ‘ENGLISH HARBRIDGE CRYSTAL’. This mark was in use from the 1930s.
One bowl has a height of approximately 8.8cm and the other a height of 8.6cm. They each have a diameter across the rim of about 10.9cm.
They have an unwrapped weight of 670g.
They are in excellent condition, with no chips or cracks, although there is the odd wear and tear scratch commensurate with age and use.
