This is a pair of attractive Roemer-style wine glasses, probably German in origin and dating to the mid-20th century.
The capacious trumpet-shaped bowl tapers in to meet the hollow cylindrical stem. About halfway down there is an applied rigaree band. Below this are two sets of five large raspberry prunts; each row is staggered with respect to the other. The whole sits on a domed conical foot with an applied trail.
On the underside of the foot, it has a rough centre with a conical depression. It is signed off centre on both glasses, although this is hard to decipher.
The glasses are made from pale green glass which is streaked and full of enclosed bubbles. There may be some lead within the glass mixture as the glasses do have a slight ‘ring’ to them.
Each glass has a height of approximately 9.1cm, with a diameter across the rim of about 7.7cm and across the foot of about 5.8cm. There are minor discrepancies in the dimensions due to the handmade nature of the glasses.
Each glass has a liquid capacity (to the brim) of 125ml.
They have an unwrapped weight of 180g.
They are in excellent condition, with no chips or cracks.
