This is a nice example of a piece of 1950s Whitefriars glass.
The flattened bowl is made from thick ruby coloured glass. At the base of the bowl there is a discoid foot; it has a large polished pontil. The exterior of the bowl is decorated with a fine circumferential trail.
This piece can be seen on page 17 of the 1957 Whitefriars catalogue. It has pattern number 9366 and was only produced in ruby.
It has a height of approximately 7.0cm, with a diameter at the rim of about 8.5cm and across the foot of about 6.3cm.
It is in excellent condition, with no chips or cracks, although there are a few wear and tear scratches to the bowl and foot.
