About Legacy Antiques

My name is Rebecca Preston and I am the founder of Legacy Antiques and Collectibles Ltd. In 2005, on my 18th birthday, I set up my first eBay account. This was initially intended to be used to sell old collections, including comics, books, and my vintage toys. As these collections were sold, I started to move on to pieces that my father and I had acquired on days out to auctions and car-boot fairs. This avenue proved very successful, and in January 2008, Legacy Antiques and Collectibles Ltd was officially registered with Companies House.

During these formative years, and as the stock numbers grew, we stumbled upon an old potato farm in Somerset with a few vacant outbuildings. After some negotiating, I came away with a warehouse. To this day, we are still in the same building, based on the edge of the quaint village of Norton St. Philip (just 20 minutes from the city of Bath).

I believe that we are custodians of these artefacts; to us, there is no greater pleasure than to rehome them with fellow enthusiasts. I empathise with the sentimentality that comes with collecting, and will endeavour to source objects to replace those you may have lost, or simply haven’t discovered yet.

‘Reduce, reuse, recycle’ is a motto close to the heart of the business. Antiques are green; by selling ‘pre-loved’ objects, we hope to reduce the carbon footprint and waste caused by the production and importing of new objects. In addition, we strive to use recycled materials wherever possible, but without compromising on quality. Much of our packing is sourced from local businesses who have no further use for it. Many of our parcels are filled with eco-friendly biodegradable packing peanuts, which can either be reused or dissolved in water to provide easy disposal. Better still, you can even put them in your compost bin! All bubblewrap, newspaper, boxes, and padded envelopes that are too well used for us are offered to local charity shops or put on freecycle, to give them another chance at being used.

Many of our competitors sell similar items, and some at comparable prices. So, why buy from us?

With over 5,000 items of stock at any one time, we believe we may be one of the largest independent antique and collectible businesses in the UK. Despite this, we always offer a personal service, and strive to make your purchasing experience with us the best it can be. Over the years we’ve had thousands of happy customers; you can see some of their testimonials below:

We treat every item or lot individually; pieces are scrutinised to ensure they meet our high standards. Where necessary, we employ the services of professional ceramic cleaners and specialist glass polishers. We will not send you anything that we aren’t entirely happy with.

We go to great lengths to include as much information in our descriptions as possible; our social history offers quite an education! We make sure we include manufacturers flaws, as well as obvious wear or damage. What you see is what you get; there are no surprises. And in the extremely unlikely event that you’re not entirely satisfied, we offer a full money back guarantee. You can read more about this in our terms and conditions.

We offer competitive shipping on all our stock. While our courier choice is not the cheapest available, we believe it is the most reliable. Since 2005, we have had around a half a dozen losses and damages, which we consider quite an achievement! We are always looking at new ways to bring this cost down; if your parcel costs less than we have anticipated then we will refund the difference in cost to you.

Anyway, that’s enough about us! Feel free to browse the site and get in touch if there’s anything we can help you with.
