This is a charming and unusual glass tumbler from the Silesian glasshouse of Fritz Heckert.

The tumbler is of classic form, tapering in towards the base. It is made from very pale green glass and is decorated around the centre with a striking white enamel motif consisting of two stylised beasts flanking an urn of fruit. On the opposite side, there is a stylised urn with floral and foliate motifs swirling around it. This sits above a gilded band; there is further gilding around the rim and a fine band just above the base.

The base is thickened and polished flat. It is marked in the centre with 'FH. 4500 13.' This is the mark for the Fritz Heckert glasshouse of Petersdorf (Piechowice) in Silesia (Poland), which was established in 1866. It merged with Josephinenhütte of Schreiberhau in 1923. The number '4500' was known to be in use from 1884 until after 1900.

It has a height of approximately 9.4cm, with a diameter across the rim of about 5.9cm and across the base of about 3.1cm.

It has a liquid capacity (to the brim) of 150ml.

It has an unwrapped weight of 70g.

It is in excellent condition, with no chips or cracks, although the gilding around the rim and base is worn in places.
