Webb Corbett 19th Century Style Geometric Cut Lead Crystal Wine Glass c.1940s
For a full product description, see below.
This is an unusual lead crystal wine glass in a 19th century style produced by Webb Corbett in the late 1940s.
The round capacious bowl is decorated below the rim with a band of geometric cuts that form a crenellated ‘Greek Key’ type motif. The base of the bowl is cut with six petals that extend down onto the stem as facets. These terminate at the small discoid collar at the junction with the plain, flat foot. The latter is marked in the centre with the words ‘WEBB CORBETT T MADE IN ENGLAND’.
This mark was in use from 1930 until 1947. However, the addition of the letter ‘T’ suggests that these glasses were produced by the Tutbury factory between 1947 and 1949.
It has a height of approximately 12.1cm, with a diameter across the rim of about 7.2cm and across the foot of about 6.6cm.
It is in excellent condition, with no chips or cracks.
