Royal Brierley ‘Bruce’ Design Lead Crystal Square Spirit Decanter
For a full product description, see below.
This is a high-quality cut lead crystal square spirit decanter from the ‘Bruce’ suite by Royal Brierley.
The decanter is approximately square in section, with chamfered corners. Each large side is cut with a lattice consisting of five rows of interlocking criss-crosses, topped with a nine-limbed fan. The shoulder and neck of the decanter are cut with eight facets that extend up to under the rim. The latter is thickened and plain.
The base is thickened and star cut. It is marked near the edge with the word ‘BRIERLEY’.
The stopper is hollow and star cut from the apex, with the arms extending down over the edge of the stopper. There is a short waisted portion above a polished peg.
It has a maximum height (including the stopper) of approximately 27.5cm, with a diameter across the rim of about 6.6cm and a width across the base of about 8.9cm.
It is in excellent condition, with no chips or cracks, although there are some notches and pits within the cutting on the stopper and on the body. These are manufacturing artefacts and not chips as they are smooth from the acid dipping after the cutting was done.
