This is a classic Grecian-style small ceramic flower urn or vase produced by Wedgwood.
The urn has a trumpet-like rim, tapering in and then widening out again as it reaches the gourd-shaped body. This is moulded with a raised ridged pattern. There are two shell-shaped handles attached on opposing sides. There is a discoid collar at the junction of the body and the flared, plinth-like base.
The piece is glazed in white.
The underside of the base has a mauve-coloured circular mark with the words ‘WEDGWOOD OF ETRURIA & BARLASTON MADE IN ENGLAND’, as well as the letter ‘G’. It is also impressed with the word ‘WEDGWOOD’ and the code ‘9 T 68’.
In addition, the piece comes with the original plastic-coated metal posy ‘frog’.
It has a height of approximately 13.4cm, with a diameter across the rim of about 10.4cm and across the base of about 8.0cm.
It has an unwrapped weight of 300g.
It is in excellent condition, with no chips or cracks, although the ‘frog’ is a little cracked and marked due to age and use.
