Whitefriars ‘Roman Cut’ Design Custard Cup
For a full product description, see below.
This is a highly unusual example of a custard cup from the ‘Roman Cut’ range produced by Whitefriars.
The capacious rounded bowl is decorated with three rows of small oval cuts, each row being staggered with respect to the next. This band is bordered above and below by a fine circumferential line. Above the base of the bowl is a ring of circular olive cuts. The base of the bowl is cut with six petals that extend down on to the stem as facets. The foot is plain with a central polished pontil. The separately applied handle loops up above the bowl and has a decorative crimped lower attachment.
It has a height of approximately 8.9cm, with a diameter across the rim of about 5.5cm and across the foot of about 5.7cm.
It is in excellent condition, with no chips or cracks.
