Whitefriars Medium Sapphire Blue Ribbon Trail Bowl No. 8901

This is a nice example of a medium sized Whitefriars trail bowl. The bowl is rounded and stands on a thick, discoid foot which is plain, with a central polished out pontil. The exterior of the bowl is decorated with a continuous moulded spiral trail. The whole is made from ‘sapphire blue’ glass. This design first featured on page 2 of the 1940 Whitefriars catalogue, with pattern number 8901. It has a height of approximately 11.3cm, with a diameter at the rim of about 19.9cm and at the foot of about 8.7cm. It is in excellent condition, with no chips or cracks, although there are a number of wear and tear scratches to the body and the foot.
