This is a high quality cut lead crystal ships decanter from the ‘Lismore’ suite by Waterford Crystal.
The decanter has a thick galleried rim that tapers in to form the cylindrical neck. The latter then widens out to form the flattened discoid body. The neck is cut with eight facets with curved lower margins. The body is cut with a complex design consisting of three rows of raised diamonds topped with a band of wedge cuts. There are eight large vertical wedge cuts; between each large cut there are three smaller vertical wedge cuts. Above the base of the decanter, around the widest point, it is cut with a band of deep arched notches. The base is star cut and marked with the seahorse logo and the word ‘WATERFORD’.
The stopper is of solid ball form and is moulded with eight panels; the centre of each panel is cut with a deep vertical wedge cut that meets adjacent cuts at the apex. Below this the stopper has a waisted portion that is moulded with eight facets. The peg is plain and polished smooth.
It has a maximum height (including the stopper) of approximately 25.0cm and a maximum diameter across the base of about 16.5cm.
It is in excellent condition, with no chips or cracks.
