Vallauris French Art Pottery Large Shell Shaped Ceramic Bowl
For a full product description, see below.
This is a highly attractive and unusual art pottery bowl, probably attributable to the French company Vallauris.
The bowl is moulded with an off-centre spiral, within a pattern of radiating ribs. The inside of the bowl is decorated with multicoloured glazes, which have run together to give a marble-like effect.
The underneath is moulded to represent the outer surface of the shell, and is glazed in dark brown. There is a central unglazed foot rim, which reveals the underlying ceramic body to be off white in colour.
It has a maximum length of approximately 34.0cm and a maximum width of about 27.0cm.
It is in excellent condition, with no chips or cracks.
