This is an unusual example of a SylvaC planter or jardinière.
The planter is moulded in the form of a large shell with limpets adhering to the surface. It is decorated in subtle shades of grey and rust brown. The interior is tinged with pink, particularly around the upper part of the rim. The base is impressed with the words ‘SYLVAC MADE IN ENGLAND’ and the number ‘3680’.
It has a height of approximately 13.5cm, with a diameter at the rim of about 15.0cm. The base has a maximum length of about 11.5cm and a maximum width of about 9.0cm.
It is in excellent condition, with no chips or cracks, although there is some crazing to the glaze and a few minor stains. This is reflected in the price.
