Small Japanese Ceramic Charger with Bird and Willow Tree Design
For a full product description, see below.
This is a beautifully executed ceramic charger, probably originating from Japan and dating to the 20th century.
It has a traditional design featuring a bird about to land on a willow bough. The piece is hand painted, and the feathers of the bird have a textured appearance. The feet, beak, and some of the leaves are highlighted in gilt.
The foot rim is unglazed, revealing the underlying ceramic body to be white earthenware. There is no sign of a maker’s mark.
It has a diameter across the rim of approximately 26.5cm and a depth of about 4.5cm.
It is in excellent condition, with no chips or cracks.
