Set of Six Uranium Bowled Lead Crystal Hock Wine Glasses c.1900
For a full product description, see below.
This is a set of six stunning, high-quality lead crystal hock wine glasses dating to around 1900.
Each glass has a rounded capacious bowl and everted rim. The bowls are made from vibrant green glass that fluoresces under UV light. This indicates that they contain traces of uranium. There is a discoid collar at the junction with the flint glass stem. The stem is of elongated baluster form; the baluster is twisted to give a wrythen effect. There is a further discoid collar at the junction of the stem and the plain, flat foot. The latter bears the remains of a central Y shaped tool mark.
Each glass has a height of approximately 18.5cm, with a diameter across the rim of about 6.8cm and across the foot of about 6.8cm. There are minor variations in the dimensions due to the handmade nature of the glasses.
They are in excellent condition, with no chips or cracks.
