This is a set of six high quality cut lead crystal liqueur or cordial glasses, probably British in origin and dating to the early to mid-20th century.
This is a set of six high quality cut lead crystal liqueur or cordial glasses, probably British in origin and dating to the early to mid-20th century.
The rounded bowl is cut with five rows of interlocking criss-crosses that diminish in size as they approach the base of the bowl. Above the centre of each cross in the uppermost row is an olive cut. The base of the bowl is thickened and merges imperceptibly with the baluster shaped stem. The foot is unmarked and cut around the edge with a ring of notches.
Each glass has a height of approximately 8.9cm, with a diameter across the rim of about 3.9cm and across the foot of about 4.5cm. There may be minor discrepancies in the dimensions due to the handmade nature of the glasses.
They are in excellent condition, with no chips or cracks.
