Retro Strehla East German (GDR) Goblet Shaped Flower Vase in Blue
For a full product description, see below.
This is an unusual example of a ceramic flower vase produced by Strehla for the export market.
The vase has an upper tulip-shaped bowl and a lower conical base. The upper part has a cobalt blue glaze around the rim, which is mottled with a turquoise glaze in the mid-section. There is an applied textured design consisting of loops and circles, which are black in colour. The conical base is predominantly cobalt blue, with turquoise mottling. The interior is glazed in black.
The base has an unglazed foot rim, revealing the underlying ceramic to be pinkish-buff in colour. The centre of the base is glazed in blue and stamped with the word ‘FOREIGN’.
It has a height of approximately 18.0cm, with a diameter across the rim of about 8.8cm and across the base of about 8.8cm.
It is in excellent condition, with no chips or cracks.
