Retro Chance Glass ‘Swirl’ Design Handled Serving Plate c.1960s
For a full product description, see below.
This is a charming example of a handled serving plate from the ‘Swirl’ range produced by Chance Glass.
The plate has an everted fluted rim that is gilded. The centre is screen printed with the ‘Swirl’ pattern.
The ‘Swirl’ pattern originated in 1955; up to 1970 the central circle from which the pattern radiates was small in size. Later examples have a larger circle. As this example has the smaller central ‘hole’, this particular piece dates to no later than 1970.
The plate has a metal handle in a brass colour, which clips over the edge of the rim.
It has a maximum height of approximately 13.6cm and a diameter across the plate of about 24.3cm.
It is in good condition, with no chips or cracks, although there is some wear to the gilding at the rim and there are some wear and tear scratches to the base, commensurate with the age of the piece.
