Retro Bubbled Art Glass Duck Figure in Amber
For a full product description, see below.
This is a charming example of a crudely made art glass duck, maker unknown.
The duck is made from thick dark amber-coloured glass with a random bubbled motif within. The neck has been drawn out from the body and a bulbous head has been fashioned. Below this sits a flattened rectangular beak. The tail has also been drawn out from the body.
The piece sits on a thickened discoid foot, which has a broad polished pontil. This has been ground with a matte finish.
Although this piece echoes the style of Whitefriars ‘Dilly’ ducks produced in the mid-20th century, it is unlikely to have come from them.
It has a height of approximately 12.0cm.
It is in excellent condition, with no chips or cracks, although as previously mentioned it has been crudely made.
