This is a highly attractive example of a ceramic dinner plate from the 'Samoa' range by Alfred Meakin.
The design consists of a bold floral motif in monochromatic linear form. The rim is encircled with a wide black band.
The underside of the plate has a transfer printed maker’s mark, which reads ‘SAMOA IRONSTONE BY ALFRED MEAKIN STAFFORDSHIRE ENGLAND A HAND ENGRAVED PATTERN APPLIED UNDER THE GLAZE DETERGENT AND ACID RESISTING COLOUR’.
It has a diameter across the rim of approximately 25.3cm.
It is in excellent condition, with no chips or cracks.
