This is a stunning example of an art pottery vase in classic retro form, probably Scandinavian in origin and dating to the 1970s.
The vase is of tapered form, narrowing as it approaches the rim. This is broad and flattened. There are two further ‘rings’ on the body echoing the style of the rim. The whole is glazed in a dark mottled brown (almost black) glaze with flecks of grey. The edges of the rings are glazed in light brown.
The base is unglazed, revealing the underlying ceramic body to be grey stoneware. It is plain and unmarked.
It has a height of approximately 19.9cm, with a maximum diameter across the rim of about 13.7cm and across the base of about 11.6cm.
It is in excellent condition, with no chips or cracks.
