This is a classic example of a mid-20th-century vase produced by Whitefriars Glass.
The vase is trumpet-shaped with an everted rim. The body is decorated with a continuous moulded spiral trail. The foot is plain, with a central polished pontil. The piece is made from ruby glass encased in a thin layer of flint (clear) glass. This layer is visible at the edge of the foot, which appears more translucent.
This piece has the pattern number 9296 and can be seen on page 30 of the 1949 Whitefriars catalogue.
It has a height of approximately 13.5cm, with a diameter across the rim of about 11.0cm and across the foot of about 8.3cm.
It has an unwrapped weight of 380g.
It is in excellent condition, with no chips or cracks, although there are some wear and tear scratches on the underside of the foot commensurate with age.
