This is a high-quality cut lead crystal wine or water goblet from the ‘St. Andrews’ suite produced by Thomas Webb.
The capacious rounded bowl is cut with a complex pattern consisting of five large crosses, each formed by two pairs of parallel wedge cuts. Within the upper ‘arms’ of each cross is a five-pointed fan. Within the diamond formed between adjacent criss-crosses is a complex star, formed by overlapping triangles.
The bowl has a thickened base which merges with the baluster-shaped stem. The foot is plain and marked in the centre with ‘THOS WEBB ENGLAND’.
It has a height of approximately 15.9cm, with a diameter across the rim of about 8.1cm and across the foot of about 6.9cm.
It has a liquid capacity (to the brim) of 250ml.
It has an unwrapped weight of 320g.
It is in excellent condition, with no chips or cracks.
