This is a set of six high-quality cut lead crystal sherry glasses from the ‘Appin’ suite by Edinburgh Crystal.
The bowl is bucket-shaped with a thickened base. The lower third is cut with a lattice formed from three rows of interlocking crosses. The peak and trough of adjacent crosses on the uppermost row are surmounted by a vertical wedge cut. This gives an undulating effect.
The bowl sits on a short, baluster-shaped stem. The foot is plain and marked in the centre with the words ‘EDINBURGH MADE IN SCOTLAND’.
In addition, five of the six glasses retain the original black and gold foil and paper label, which has the Lion Rampant emblem above the words ‘EDINBURGH CRYSTAL MADE IN SCOTLAND’. These labels are quite worn and crumpled in places.
Each glass has a height of approximately 9.8cm, with a diameter across the rim of about 4.9cm and across the foot of about 5.1cm.
Each glass has a liquid capacity (to the brim) of 60ml.
They have an unwrapped weight of 650g.
They are in excellent condition, with no chips or cracks.
