This is a set of four high-quality, cut lead crystal cocktail glasses from the ‘Normandy’ suite by Thomas Webb.
The bowl is cut with a continuous band of deep wedge cuts; beneath these is a pattern consisting of chequered diamonds. The lower part of the bowl is cut with six facets, which continue downwards onto the stem. This is therefore hexagonal in section. There is a small collar at the junction of the stem and foot. The foot is marked in the centre with the words ‘WEBB MADE IN ENGLAND’. This mark was in use from 1935 to 1949.
Each glass has a height of approximately 11.0cm, with a diameter across the rim of about 7.0cm and across the foot of about 5.6cm. There may be minor discrepancies in dimensions due to the handmade nature of the glasses.
The liquid capacity to the brim is around 75ml (per glass).
They have an unwrapped weight of 450g.
They are in excellent condition, with no chips or cracks, although there is the odd piece of enclosed ‘frit’ or bubble from the manufacturing process.
