Pair of Thomas Webb ‘Normandy’ Design Lead Crystal White Wine Glasses c.1940s

This is a pair of high-quality cut lead crystal white wine glasses from the ‘Normandy’ suite by Thomas Webb.

The rounded bowl is cut with a continuous band of deep wedge cuts. Beneath these is a pattern consisting of chequered diamonds. The lower part of the bowl is cut with six facets, which continue downwards onto the elongated stem. There is a small collar at the junction of the stem and foot. The latter is marked in the centre with the words ‘WEBB MADE IN ENGLAND’. This particular mark was in use during the 1930s and 1940s.

Each glass has a height of approximately 11.4cm, with a diameter across the rim of about 6.7cm and across the foot of about 5.9cm. There may be minor discrepancies in the dimensions due to the handmade nature of the glasses.

Each glass has a liquid capacity (to the brim) of 90ml.

They have an unwrapped weight of 280g.

They are in excellent condition, with no chips or cracks.
