This is a pair of high-quality lead crystal champagne flutes from the ‘Val d’Isere’ suite by J G Durand of France.
The elongated bowl is plain and tapered in slightly at the rim. The bowl narrows as it approaches the base and merges with the solid, straight stem. The latter merges with the plain, flat foot.
Each bowl is decorated with three large leaves arranged around the base of the bowl. These have been cut and etched to give a matte intaglio finish.
Although the glasses are unmarked, they each bear the original plastic labels, which read ‘CRISTAL J G DURAND’.
Each glass has a height of approximately 21.8cm, with a diameter across the rim of about 5.0cm and across the foot of about 6.7cm.
Each glass has a liquid capacity (to the brim) of 200ml.
They have an unwrapped weight of 350g.
They are in excellent condition, with no chips or cracks.
