This is a pair of high-quality cut lead crystal brandy glasses from the ‘Lomond’ suite by Edinburgh Crystal.
The capacious bowl tapers towards the rim to give the classic brandy balloon shape. It is cut with a series of six large crosses, each of which is intersected with a vertical wedge cut. Above and below the centre of each large cross is a further cross; the upper cross has elongated lower limbs, and the lower cross has elongated upper limbs. These elongated limbs cross over one another and come into contact with those in the next panel, thus creating a diamond-shaped panel. This is surmounted by a three-pointed fan.
The bowl sits on a short, plain stem and star-cut foot. The latter is marked at the edge with the words ‘EDINBURGH SCOTLAND’.
The glasses come in their original Edinburgh Crystal purple satin-lined display box.
Each glass has a height of approximately 12.5cm, with a diameter across the rim of about 6.3cm and across the foot of about 7.0cm.
Each glass has a liquid capacity (to the brim) of 325ml.
They have an unwrapped weight of 730g.
They are in excellent condition, with no chips or cracks, although there is minor wear to the edges of the box.
