This is a charming example of a sheepdog figure produced under the trade name ‘Melba Ware’ by H. A. Wain & Sons.
The dog is beautifully moulded so that the texture of his fur and his facial features are lifelike.
The underside of the feet is unglazed, revealing the underlying ceramic body to be white. The underside of the belly is transfer printed with the words ‘MELBA WARE ENGLAND’.
It has a height of approximately 19.0cm, with a maximum length of about 22.5cm.
It has an unwrapped weight of 700g.
It is in excellent condition, with no chips or cracks.
