This is a high-quality cut lead crystal ale glass dating to about 1880.
The tall cylindrical bowl is cut with four rows of lens or ‘printie’ cuts, which are staggered with respect to each other. The short stem has a flattened globular knop above a collar by which it is attached to the foot. The foot is flat and polished out on the base.
It has a height of approximately 20.7cm, with a diameter across the rim of about 7.2cm and across the foot of about 8.8cm.
It has a liquid capacity (to the brim) of about 325ml.
It has an unwrapped weight of 710g.
It is in excellent condition, with no chips or cracks, although there are a number of pieces of enclosed frit and bubbles. These are manufacturing artefacts and do not detract from the piece in any way. There are also some wear and tear scratches to the underside of the foot commensurate with use.
