This is a high-quality lead crystal large wine glass from the ‘Skye’ suite produced by Edinburgh Crystal.
The rounded bowl is cut around the centre with a band of three large crosses. The diamond-shaped panel formed between adjacent crosses contains a lattice of fine diamonds. Above the centre of each large cross is a thick vertical wedge cut, flanked by fine curved lines. These meet adjacent curved lines to form an arch. The stem and foot are plain. The latter is marked with the words ‘EDINBURGH SCOTLAND’.
This size of wine glass is referred to in the Edinburgh Crystal catalogue as a ‘Large Wine Glass’. The size is the second of three produced in this range, and sits between the smaller ‘Wine Glass’ and the larger ‘Goblet’ sizes.
The glass has a height of approximately 19.6cm, with a diameter across the rim of about 7.3cm and across the foot of about 6.6cm.
Please note: This glass is about ⅛ of an inch shorter than the standard 7 ⅞” size. This is expected with handmade stemware, but I recommend you compare the measurements to your own before purchasing to ensure a good match.
It has a liquid capacity (to the brim) of 250ml.
It has an unwrapped weight of 220g.
It is in excellent condition, with no chips or cracks.
