This is a nice example of a lead crystal candleholder, designed by Frank Thrower in 1983 for Dartington Glass.
The piece has a deep, galleried rim, which narrows to form a short neck. Below this is a large, flattened globular portion, which narrows to form the elongated stem. The upper portion of this is hollow, and the lower portion is solid. It sits on a thickened, discoid foot. This is plain and unmarked.
It is made from vertically ribbed glass, which is known as ‘Optic’.
The piece bears the original black Dartington sticker, which is indicative of ‘seconds’ quality.
The candleholder comes in the original Dartington cardboard box and even includes the original white candle.
It has a height of approximately 17.5cm, with a diameter across the rim of about 6.7cm and across the foot of about 9.4cm.
It has an unwrapped weight (including the box and candle) of 680g.
It is in excellent condition, with no chips or cracks.
