Alfred Meakin ‘Bleu de Roi’ Design Blue and Gold Oval Serving Platter (14 ¼”)

This is a high-quality serving platter from the ‘Bleu de Roi’ suite produced by Alfred Meakin.

The platter is oval with a royal blue band at the edge of the rim. This is flanked by a thin gilt line on its inner and outer edges. In addition, it bears the remains of a gilt line at the inner margin of the rim.

The base is marked within the foot rim with a gilt logo consisting of the words ‘BLEU DE ROI’ above a crown and the words ‘ALFRED MEAKIN ENGLAND’ below.

It has a maximum length of approximately 35.8cm and a maximum width of about 28.8cm.

It has an unwrapped weight of 1150g.

It is in good condition, with no chips or cracks, although the gilding has worn at the rim, and as previously mentioned the inner band of gilding is almost completely worn away. There is also a small stain, about 2mm long, within the ceramic body, which can be seen in the photographs. This wear is reflected in the price.
