This is a nice example of a handmade preserve pot by Prinknash Pottery.
The body is approximately globular in shape, tapering in towards the short galleried rim. It is glazed in taupe with vertical stripes of off-white glaze down the body. The lid is glazed in off-white and is discoid in shape with a semi-circular notch for insertion of a spoon. There is a central tapering knop.
The underside of the base is washed with pale taupe glaze, although you can see the terracotta body underneath. It is stamped off-centre with the word ‘PRINKNASH’.
It has a height (excluding the lid) of approximately 6.4cm, with a diameter across the rim of about 6.9cm and across the base of about the same.
It is in excellent condition, with no chips or cracks.
