‘Price and Kensington Brick Co.’ Novelty Ceramic Teapot
This is a charming piece of vintage kitchenalia by Price and Kensington.
This is a charming piece of vintage kitchenalia by Price and Kensington.
The teapot is cuboidal and moulded to look like a brick. In the central depression are the words ‘PRICE KENSINGTON BRICK CO’. The handle is strap-like and extends from just below the rim to just above the base. The spout is short and is drawn up to sit just in line with the rim. The latter is flat with a rectangular hole for insertion of the lid.
The lid is rectangular with a central cuboidal knop. There is a small hole off-centre to allow escape of steam.
The base is moulded with the words ‘MADE IN ENGLAND P&K’.
The whole is glazed in a pale pink, which is patchy in areas.
It has a maximum height including the lid of approximately 11.9cm, a maximum length of 30.5cm and a maximum width of 5.8cm.
It is in excellent condition, with no chips or cracks, although there are a few glaze ‘misses’ on the body, one of which is visible above the base in the photo. These are manufacturing artefacts and do not detract from the piece in any way.
