This is an attractive hand-thrown studio pottery vase from the Pog Crafts Pottery of Bedford.
The vase is of classic shape with a slightly everted rim, a short neck and a rounded shoulder that merges with the tapering body.
The piece has been hand thrown in biscuit coloured ceramic. The edge is horizontally ridged. This is more apparent in the upper two-thirds. It is glazed in a stone grey with an applied decoration in cobalt blue, consisting of horizontal stripes just below the shoulder and an abstract design below the neck.
The base is incised with a monogram that is attributable to Paul McGrath and Graham Fielder of the Pog Crafts Pottery of the Cardington Workshops in Harrowden, Bedford. They have been in operation since about 1985.
It has a height of approximately 26.0cm, with a diameter at the rim of about 11.6cm and across the base of about 12.8cm.
It is in excellent condition, with no chips or cracks.
